There are various reports out of war-torn Yemen of a new 500-rial note (B128a), supposedly printed in Russia and intended for circulation by the “official” Central Bank of Yemen now located in the southern city of Aden.
Meanwhile, a competing bank in the northern city of Sana’a is rumored to have ordered new 5,000-rial notes, also from Russia. A truck full of the new notes was captured by tribal gunmen in the al rayon desert east of al Jawf province.
