La Banque de la République du Burundi has introduced new 500- (US$0.40) and 1,000-franc (US$0.80) notes, both dated 01-05-09 and bearing the same signature combinations. The designs are the same as B225 and B226, respectively, but the sizes have been reduced to 132 x 67 mm and 137 x 69 mm.
