According to an article on News of Iceland dated 18 February 2013, the Central Bank of Iceland (Seðlabanki Íslands) will introduce a new 10,000-króna (US$77) this year, “probably this spring.” The notes feature Jónas Hallgrímsson, scientist and poet, and the Eurasian golden plover and were designed by Kristín Þorkelsdóttir, who also designed Iceland’s other denominations.
