According to a press release dated 28 December 2018, the Mongol Bank intends to introduce a revised 5,000-tögrög note in the first quarter of 2019. The note will have new security features, including the Soyombo symbol as 3D SPARK inkjet element. Preceding notes will continue to circulate in parallel.
These notes are like the preceding issues, but new latent image on shield, repositioned registration device, new holographic stripe without laser-etched digits, new color-changing windowed security thread, and smaller repositioned flag at upper right back. According to an article in Azernews dated 25 September 2018, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan has denied rumors that it intends to issue a 100,000-som banknote. At present the largest denomination in circulation is the 50,000-som note (B215) introduced in 2017.
