According to a Portuguese-language press release dated 29 July 2013, Banco Central do Brasil issued new 2-real and 5-real banknotes, thereby completing the second family of real notes.

B874 (P252 & P252A): 2 reais (US$0.60)

Blue and green. Front: Portuguese text; puzzle number as registration device; head of República. Back: Portuguese text; TARTARUGA MARINHA (Eretmochelys imbricata, Hawksbill sea turtles) swimming among corals and starfish; puzzle number. No security thread. Watermark: Sea turtle and electrotype 2. Printer: Varieties. 121 x 65 mm. Paper.
