Singapore urged to withdraw 10,000-dollar notes

As previously reported, the Monetary Authority of Singapore will no longer issue the 10,000-dollar banknote (B138a) as of 1 October 2014, but it will remain legal tender. However, according to a Jakarta Post article dated 7 July 2014, the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) has urged Singaporean authorities to withdraw all such notes rather than simply discontinue printing, to more effectively help Indonesia curb rampant corruption and money-laundering activities.
