According to an article on Rappler.com dated 26 October 2015, Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. announced that by January 2016, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) would issue a new 100-peso banknote (existing B1079, top) with a revised mauve color (B1080, middle) to easily distinguish it from the blue 1,000-peso note (B1083, bottom).
