West African States rumors of new 50,000-franc note are false

According to an article on SeneDirect dated 1 April 2016, the Banque Centrale des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (BCEAO) plans to introduce a new 50,000-franc note on 30 April 2016. The new denomination is orange. The front of the note is inspired by information and communication technologies, illustrated by a touch pad. The back of the note depicts a pride of lions on the savannah.

However, according to Fabien Louart: There is an error in the french text: On the note, it’s written “cinquante milles” (with “s” at “mille”) instead of “cinquante mille”… In french the Word “mille” is never written with “s”, éventuellement in plurial.

Open further examination, the image below appears to have been based upon the 5,000-franc note, with the colors changed and text manipulated, and the signature combination is from 1990.

According to a press release dated 7 April 2016, the BCEAO claims that these rumors are false.
