According to a press release dated 28 September 2016, Bank Negara Malaysia will introduce 50-ringgit notes (B148b) with the signature of Datuk Muhammd Ibrahim, who was appointed as the new governor for five years, effective from 1 May 2016, following the retirement of the previous governor, Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akthar Aziz.
