Kyrgyzstan modified 200-, 500-, and 1,000-som notes (B230-B232) reported for introduction on 01.01.2017

According to a Russian language press release dated 6 December 2016, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic plans to introduce three new banknotes on 1 January 2017. These notes are like the preceding issues, but with revised portraits at left front, round ornament at center front that reveals hidden image of COM when viewed with backlighting (DLR’s Mask security feature), and the year 2016 at lower right back.

According to an article on KABAR.kg, the bank has awarded the contract to print modified notes of 20, 50, 100, and 5,000 com to Oberthur Technologies, a French company. No word yet on when these denominations will be issued.
