Unveiled on 3 March 2026, these ZiG notes have upgraded security features and new designs featuring the “Big 5” animals of Zimbabwe. They also feature graduated sizes and intaglio horizontal lines at left/right front for easier identification by the sight impaired. The three lower denominations—along with 2- and 5-zig coins—were issued on 7 April 2026 to help facilitate making small change for retail purchases, with the two larger denominations to follow “when conditions allow.” The preceding 10- and 20-zig notes—the only denominations actually issued from that family—continue to circulate, but are being withdrawn as they cycle through the banking system.
