According to an article in the Vanuatu Daily Post dated 13 July 2017, the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu planned to introduce a new 5,000-vatu note (B213) on 28 July 2017, followed by a new 500-vatu note (B210) in November or December 2017. Both new notes are printed on polymer substrate by Note Printing Australia.
