Algeria new 2,000-dinar note (B412a) reportedly introduced on 18.03.2021

On 4 July 2020, the Banque d’Algérie unveiled a new 2,000-dinar note (upper images) and replaced the 200-dinar note with a new coin. Aymen Benabderrahmane, minister of finance, announced that the bank would issue new notes in November, on the occasion of the celebration of the start of the Algerian revolution. In reality, the new 2,000-dinar note (lower images) was not introduced into circulation until 18 March 2021 according to this press release, and the design had changed considerably. Some reports indicate the new note is printed in the bank’s new plant at Sidi Moussa, but the serial number font and winged security thread look suspiciously like those used by Russia’s Goznak.
