Kazakhstan new 2,000-tenge commemorative note (B136a) confirmed

On 17 January 2011, the National Bank of Kazakhstan issued a new 2,000-tenge (US$13.60) banknote to mark the 2011 Asian Winter Games hosted by Kazakhstan. The banknote bears the emblem of the 7th Asian Winter Games that are scheduled to be held in Astana and Almaty from 30 January to 6 February.


Green and blue. Front (vertical): Kazakh text; gold-to-green Spark snowflakes; Astana-Baiterek monument; sheet music; national emblem; palm; flag. Back: Kazakh text; Khan Tengri in Tien Shan mountain range; ski jumper; globe emblem of the 7th Asian Winter Games. Solid security thread. 4-mm wide StarChrome purple-to-green windowed security thread with demetalized АСТАНА АЛМАТЫ (each character formed from the digits 2011).
