According to an article on Nyasa Times dated 13 June 2011, the Reserve Bank of Malawi will soon introduce a 1,000-kwacha (US$6.60) note, twice as large as the current highest denomination, the 500-kwacha (B148). The new notes are supposedly being printed by De La Rue.
