According to a press release dated 26 April 2011, the Bank of Japan is changing the color of the serial numbers on the 1,000 (US$12.25) and 10,000 (US$122) yen banknotes from black to brown on 19 July 2011. Other than this minor change, the notes will remain the same as the existing B365a and B367a designs which have been in circulation since 2004.
