This 50,000-pound note commemorates 70 years of independence for Lebanon. It was issued on 22 November 2013 (the anniversary of the end of French colonial rule in 1943) despite the fact that the French-language back spells independence<\/i> as it is written in English, rather than the French independance<\/i>. The Central Bank of Lebanon said it regretted the mistake, which it blamed on the printer.<\/p>\n
