{"id":5956,"date":"2016-05-05T07:46:00","date_gmt":"2016-05-05T07:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test946983.live-website.com\/?p=5956"},"modified":"2020-01-24T00:59:03","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T00:59:03","slug":"zimbabwe-intends-to-issue-new-dollar-denominated-bond-notes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/banknotenews.com\/?p=5956","title":{"rendered":"Zimbabwe intends to issue new dollar-denominated &#8220;bond notes&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-larger-font-size\">\n<div class=\"blog-entry-body\">According to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rbz.co.zw\/assets\/press-statement-on-cash-shortages-challenge---04-may-2016.pdf\">press release dated 4 May 2016<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rbz.co.zw\">Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe<\/a>, blaming a cash shortage of US dollars on the strength of the US dollar, intends to convert all USD exchange receipts into South African rand and euros in an effort to &#8220;spread the demand for cash amongst a wide range of currencies and in order to mitigate against concentration risk.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, &#8220;In order to mitigate against possible abuses of this [USD200 million foreign exchange and export incentive facility] through capital flight, this facility shall be granted to qualifying foreign exchange earners in bond coins and notes which shall continue to operate alongside the currencies within the multi-currency system and at par with the USD.
