On 5 October 2026, the Banco Central Del Paraguay unveiled its new family of notes featuring notable personalities and cultural items on front and, on back, ecoregions with endemic fauna, flora, and fungi, as well as an outline map with star indicating the location of the ecoregion. The three lower denominations are printed on polymer substrate while the three larger denominations are printed on cotton paper. Each denomination has a unique predominant color. To make it easier for the sight impaired to distinguish denominations, the new notes graduate in width (height is uniform) and have tactile elements. These notes will be introduced progressively as stocks of old notes are exhausted. Both types will continue to circulate in parallel.
