According to a press release dated 8 April 2019<\/a>, the Bank of Ghana planned to introduce \u201cupgraded\u201d banknotes with improved security features, durability, and machine readability on 6 May 2019. All denominations feature Crane\u2019s RAPID windowed security thread; a more prominent watermark of Tetteh Quarshie, cocoa pod, and electrotype denomination; and an enhanced golden iridescent stripe of gold bars on back.
