{"id":10059,"date":"2013-07-24T09:12:00","date_gmt":"2013-07-24T09:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test946983.live-website.com\/?p=10059"},"modified":"2019-12-03T21:49:20","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T21:49:20","slug":"england-confirms-new-10-pound-note-to-feature-jane-austen-in-2016-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/banknotenews.com\/?p=10059","title":{"rendered":"England confirms new 10-pound note to feature Jane Austen in 2016-2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class='has-larger-font-size'>\n<div class=\"blog-entry-body\">According to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bankofengland.co.uk\/publications\/Pages\/news\/2013\/093.aspx\" target=\"self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release dated 24 July 2013<\/a>, the Bank of England has &#8220;confirmed that Jane Austen will appear on a forthcoming Bank of England banknote:  the next new character following Sir Winston Churchill\u2026The Austen note will be issued as a \u00a310 note, within a year of the Churchill \u00a35 note, which is targeted for issue during 2016.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Features of the design on the reverse of the Jane Austen note will include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li>The quote \u2013 \u201cI declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!\u201d from Pride and Prejudice (Miss Bingley, Chapter XI).<\/li>\n<li>Portrait of Jane Austen. Commissioned by James Edward Austen Leigh (Jane Austen\u2019s nephew) in 1870, adapted from an original sketch of Jane Austen drawn by her sister, Cassandra Austen.<\/li>\n<li>An illustration of Miss Elizabeth Bennet undertaking \u201cThe examination of all the letters which Jane had written to her\u201d\u2013 from a drawing by Isabel Bishop (1902-1988).<\/li>\n<li>The image of Godmersham Park. Godmersham was home of Edward Austen Knight, Jane Austen&#8217;s brother.
