The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has issued a 5,000-som banknote<\/a> on 1 July 2013, surpassing the 1,000-som note (B212) introduced in 2001 as the largest denomination. <\/p>\n Since 1940, the Uzbek language has been written in Cyrillic script, but following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Latin script has been officially re-introduced.
